Rocky Mountain Raceweek 2024

Date: June 23 – 28, 2024
Route: Tulsa → Texas → Oklahoma → Missouri → back to Tulsa

Rocky Mountain Race Week 2024 was one for the books — six days of speed, sweat, and road miles through the heart of the Midwest. This year, Chris took the wheel for the official Drag and Drive competition, while I followed close behind in my own car as a Road Weeker, capturing every burnout, checkpoint, and sunset along the way.

🏁 Day 1: Tulsa Raceway Park, OK

The week kicked off under the hot Oklahoma sun at Tulsa Raceway Park, where gates opened at noon and the smell of race fuel filled the air. From 3 PM to 10 PM, engines roared down the strip — a perfect start to six days of pure adrenaline. The excitement was electric as racers dialed in their first passes and fans packed the stands for side-by-side launches.

🚗 Day 2: The Open Road

June 24th was our first Drive Day — the kind that tests not just your car’s endurance, but your patience and playlist too. For us road weekers, it meant exploring the scenic backroads, snapping photos, and cheering on racers at fuel stops along the way. There’s nothing quite like a caravan of drag cars rolling through small-town America.

🔥 Day 3: Texas Motorplex

By June 25th, we’d crossed into Texas and landed at Texas Motorplex — a bucket-list track for any racer. The heat was no joke, but neither were the times. Chris and the other competitors laid down serious runs while fans found shade wherever they could. Between the trackside laughter and the rumble of engines, the Texas stop always delivers.

🌩 Day 4: Thunder Valley Raceway

Next up was Thunder Valley on June 26th, and the name says it all. The echo of launches bouncing through the valley made every pass sound twice as fierce. The community vibe here is unmatched — racers helping racers, spectators swapping stories, and everyone running on caffeine and adrenaline.

🏆 Day 5: Mo-Kan Dragway

By June 27th, we reached Mo-Kan Dragway, a fan-favorite for its old-school feel and fast-hooking surface. Despite the long days and late nights, spirits stayed high. Chris’s consistency behind the wheel was showing — proving once again that persistence and passion win the week, not just horsepower.

🏁 Day 6: Back to Tulsa Raceway Park

The final day brought us full circle back to Tulsa Raceway Park on June 28th. After hundreds of miles and countless memories, racers made their last passes and high-fived like family at the finish line. The week was more than just a competition — it was a road trip powered by grit, gearheads, and good company.

📸 Wrapping Up

For me, following as a Road Weeker meant experiencing the heart of the event — meeting people from all over, documenting the highs and lows, and watching Chris and his Mustang push limits day after day. From the smell of race fuel to the sound of tires on asphalt, Rocky Mountain Race Week 2024 reminded us why we love this lifestyle: it’s not just about the race — it’s about the journey.
